Alexander McQueen “Savage Beauty” Exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Today, the Metropolitan Museum allowed members an early peek at its new exhibition of clothes, shoes and accessories created by the brilliant British designer Alexander McQueen.  I went over and wow, I’ve never seen such beautiful and unusual  clothing ever!  For example, check out this gown made of silk flowers and real flowers

Or this silver corset

Check out more items in the show, Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty here.

Sadly, Lee  Alexander McQueen (his real name) hung himself last year at the age of 40, nine days after his mother died.  According to Wikipedia his ashes were scattered on the Isle of Skye,  off the coast of Scotland.

His name lives on though, in his fashion brand.  In fact, the creative director of the Alexander McQueen label, Sarah Burton, designed the dress that Kate Middleton wore in her wedding to Prince William last week.

Seriously, if you have any interest in fashion, this is the show for you – it runs until the end of July, 2011.
